Russian Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvey Safonov dealt with calf muscle issues ahead of the return leg of the Champions League semifinal against Bayern Munich, according to RMC Sport.
The discomfort reportedly began for the goalkeeper during the first leg of the semifinal. He barely trained before the second leg in Munich.
Despite this, Luis Enrique started Safonov from the first minute. PSG drew 1-1 and advanced to the final.
PSG will face London’s Arsenal in the final. The decisive Champions League match is set for May 30 at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest. PSG are the reigning Champions League winners.
