Palladino: Willing to Stay at Atalanta to Build Long-Term Project, But No Renewal Signal Yet

Posted on: 05/13/2026

Atalanta head coach Raffaele Palladino expressed his desire to remain at the club and build a competitive squad during a press conference on Saturday, but admitted he has not received any signals from the management regarding a contract extension. Palladino’s current deal runs until June 2027, yet according to Gianluca Di Marzio, a transfer expert for Sky Sport Italia, his future remains uncertain.

“I’m very happy in Bergamo. Everyone has shown me warmth since I arrived,” said Palladino, reflecting on his tenure. Since taking over from Ivan Juric in November 2025, he has led the team from 13th place up to 7th in Serie A, saw them exit the Coppa Italia on penalties, and guided them to an impressive Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund. “I evaluate this journey positively, and now we must finish the season well. My ambition is to build a competitive Atalanta and start a new great cycle, but I haven’t received any signals yet.”

Palladino has managed 36 matches in all competitions, recording 17 wins, 7 draws, and 12 losses. He acknowledged the challenges ahead: “I’m continuously evaluating. This squad wasn’t built by me. Next season will be different; I want to shape a team in my image, with young players for a long-term project.”

As Atalanta prepare for their final matches of the season—starting with a trip to San Siro to face AC Milan—the club is also undergoing significant front-office changes. Sporting director Tony D’Amico is reportedly set to be replaced by Cristiano Giuntoli, adding further uncertainty to Palladino’s position.
