Goals from Huang Qinyi and Li Qixian, along with a goal and assist from Liu Yuxi, powered China’s U17 women’s team to a 3-0 victory over India in the Asian Cup quarterfinals, securing their spot in the U17 Women’s World Cup.
In the group stage, the Chinese side dominated with three straight wins against Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand, topping their group while scoring 15 goals without conceding. Facing India in the knockout round, they needed only a win to punch their World Cup ticket. India, advancing as one of the best third-placed teams for the first time in history, had managed just one win in the group stage.
The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Liu Yuxi drove into the box and laid the ball back for Huang Qinyi, who slotted home from close range. In first-half stoppage time, Liu Yuxi was fouled in the area, earning a penalty that she converted with confidence, celebrating with a slide. Li Qixian sealed the win in the 90th minute, tapping in from inside the six-yard box.
This marks China’s fifth appearance at the U17 Women’s World Cup and the third consecutive qualification. In the previous edition in 2025, the team made history by advancing past the group stage for the first time as group runners-up, before falling to Brazil in the Round of 16. With this win, China extended their perfect record in the tournament to four games, keeping four clean sheets and continuing their unbeaten streak against India, dating back to a 2-1 victory at the 2018 BRICS Games.
