Will Jannik Sinner Ever Stop Winning? The 24-Year-Old ‘Best Post-00s’ Player Etches His Name in History

Posted on: 05/13/2026

When a player turns Masters 1000 titles into a never-ending saga, how should we define his greatness?

In March, Sinner swept the Sunshine Double in North America, completing his collection of hard-court Masters titles and sparking real talk about a potential “Golden Masters.” On April 13, he conquered Monte Carlo by defeating Alcaraz, adding his first clay Masters trophy to the list. Then on May 3, Sinner cruised to victory in Madrid, becoming the first player in history to win five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 events.

Five straight Masters titles. Not Nadal in his prime years (2013), not Djokovic during his dominant stretch (2013-2016) — only Sinner has pulled this off in 2026. And it’s not far-fetched to say that if he wins the Rome Masters in two weeks on home soil, he could clinch the Golden Masters — a feat that would leave everyone stunned.

Along the way to each of these five titles, Sinner has faced Alexander Zverev every time — and every time, he won in straight sets. No one doubts Zverev’s talent; the German battles through every opponent to reach Sinner, only to see the match lose all suspense as if it’s playing out on a different level.

In the Madrid final, Zverev didn’t even create a single break point. Their head-to-head record now shows nine straight wins for Sinner. The world No. 3 has no answer. And what about the rest of the field? They don’t seem to have one either.

What Sinner is doing feels less like human competition and more like a relentlessly upgrading machine. He has now won 28 consecutive Masters matches, just three shy of Djokovic’s record. If he keeps winning in Rome, he’ll become the second man after Djokovic to achieve that milestone. Djokovic was 31 when he set that mark. Sinner is 24.

The Italian remains as composed as ever when asked about his own records. “I have my routines,” he says. “I want to be the first one awake every morning and be ready. I love the process. I love putting myself in the best position to become the best version of myself. I don’t play for records. As I’ve said, what other players have done in the past — and Novak is still doing — is incredible. I can’t compare myself to them.”

So the question returns: Can Sinner keep winning? How far will this streak go? Roland Garros? Even further? We’re not even halfway through 2026, and the story of the “best post-00s player on Earth” has already reached a place with almost no reference point.
