The CB Zamora reserve team, playing in the Primera Nacional, suffered their second defeat in the preliminary phase of the promotion to Tercera FEB on Saturday, falling 75-68 to Palencia in a closely contested match.
Palencia took control early, building a lead of up to eight points in the first quarter and closing the first half with a 42-34 advantage. The gap widened to ten points at 49-39 and 53-43, but Palencia went into halftime leading 61-53.
In the second half, Zamora’s players improved significantly, cutting the deficit to 69-65 in the third quarter and then pulling within a single point at 69-68 early in the fourth. However, that was as close as they would get, as the white-and-blue reserve team failed to score again, and Palencia sealed the win at 73-68.
With this loss, and after falling 76-54 to Aldeamayor on Friday, CB Zamora has no chance of qualifying for the promotion phase to Tercera.
