Inter Milan had already booked their place in the final after a 3-2 aggregate win over Como. For Atalanta, this was a chance to reach their fourth Coppa Italia final since 2019, having lost the previous three. The first leg had ended 2-2 in Rome, leaving everything to play for.
Atalanta started with more intensity, dominating the first half with a series of chances. Goalkeeper Motta and some wayward finishing kept Lazio in the game. After the break, the pattern continued. Éderson thought he had scored early in the second half, but the goal was ruled out after a lengthy VAR review for a foul on the goalkeeper. That moment shifted the momentum.

Lazio grew in confidence and found gaps in Atalanta’s defense. In the 84th minute, Alessio Romagnoli beat Djimsiti to a set-piece cross and scored to make it 0-1, stunning the home crowd. But Atalanta responded quickly. From the restart, a prolonged attack led to Mario Pasalic arriving from deep to equalize with a low shot past Motta.
Atalanta had a chance to win it before extra time, but a brilliant one-handed save from Motta denied Scamacca’s header, which hit the woodwork. In extra time, further controversy arose when a goal by Raspadori was disallowed by VAR, keeping the score level. The match went to penalties, where Motta became the decisive figure. He saved four of Atalanta’s five spot-kicks, despite two Lazio players missing theirs, sending his team to the final.
Lazio will now face Inter in Rome for the Coppa Italia title.
